The Pig Really Goes the Extra Distance
The Flying Pig Marathon has always prided itself in taking the event one step above the others. This year, unfortunately, due to a race morning fire emergency on the course, we have literally gone beyond 26.2 miles. The last minute re-route added .2514 miles to the original course.
The time that was recorded at the finish line is your OFFICIAL 2008 Flying Pig Marathon time. To obtain a comparable 26.2 mile time to your 2008 Flying Pig time, please use this

For those runners who may require an adjusted time to meet a qualifying race's standards, please contact that particular race's headquarters upon registering and identify yourself as a 2008 Flying Pig participant. The Flying Pig has contacted several events that use qualifying standards and have made them aware of the situation. We have been assured that with the data provided by The Flying Pig, you will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and all have said that they have no reason to inflict penalties.
For those runners whose official time has met the qualifying standard, you do not have to take any additional steps. Your time will be accepted.
The staff of the Flying Pig Marathon wishes to thank Cincinnati Police Department Sergeant Greg Lewton, Specialist Scott Krauser, and the Cincinnati Police and Fire Departments who, at the 11th hour came up with a safe detour. Our main concern, as well as theirs, was the safety of the runners, the fire fighters, and emergency personnel at the scene of the three-alarm fire. We appreciate all the work they did, with little time to spare, to make sure we had a safe event. We also appreciate the runners' patience and understanding in handling this unavoidable emergency.
